opportunity?We are looking for a Workstation Support Specialist to
join our Manufacturing Engineering team and support the Windows
workstations that support the software solutions used to build and
test our radiotherapy systems. The candidate should be excited
about deepening their knowledge of, owning, and driving the team's
standards and practices for managing the Windows OS and hardware
layers of our application stack. They should enjoy facilitating a
common understanding between our manufacturing colleagues, our
software developers, our equipment team, our IT and cybersecurity
colleagues, and developing their understanding of Operational
Technology best practices. What are the performance outcomes you
will work toward completing?Your overarching goal will be to ensure
that all our applications have their specialized workstation
requirements inventoried and managed to a secure and repeatable set
of configuration standards that you will help us establish with our
stakeholders, which include application developers, our colleagues
within Manufacturing, and cybersecurity experts in IT.In the first
30 days, you will understand our Configuration Management standards
for the portfolio of manufacturing applications our team supports,
the workstation specifications for each of these applications, and
have worked with our software development team and our IT contacts
to establish a roadmap for introducing new processes and standards
across our groups of applications.Within the first 90 days, you
will be taking over ownership of many of the third-party software
products used in our environment and supporting multiple projects
and proof-of-concept deployments related to Windows desktop OS
administration/automation, server and database resiliency planning
and testing (collaborating with our IT counterparts), and
cybersecurity risk mitigation.Within 180 days and beyond, your work
will be reflected through established, implemented standards that
help us mitigate risks and improve resiliency, visibility, and
manageability across our application portfolio. What type of work
will you be doing?Define how we provision and support the Windows
OS environment for specialized shop floor workstations for
specialized manufacturing applications, and establish processes and
automation (using PowerShell, etc.) to make these practices
repeatable and resilient, ensuring any workstation setup can be
rebuilt as needed.Work with our software team to understand the
runtime dependencies of the .NET applications they develop, how to
provide first responder support/troubleshooting for these services,
and how to test the services against new Windows versions and
configurations for compatibility issues.Engage with IT colleagues
in desktop, network, and server support, serving as operational
liaison with IT teams that support user endpoint management,
networking, and server hosting, to troubleshoot Windows OS, TCP/IP,
SQL, and Active Directory dependencies of our applications.Work
with our equipment team, understanding how our PC hardware and
associated specialized equipment enter and exit the shop floor
environment, to ensure our setup/inventory processes meet their
requirements.Work with the operators of our applications, and
owners of the business functions they support, understanding the
end-user perspective and the unique constraints of an Operational
Technology environment.Support compliance and cybersecurity
initiatives by ensuring that all teams are working to a common,
accurate inventory model of our team's technology environment, that
we are making effective use of IT inventory tools such as CMDB and
SCCM, and we are registering our application services with the
appropriate IT governance teams. What is the structure of the
team?You will be joining the Technology Services team within the
Manufacturing Engineering organization, based in Palo Alto. We
facilitate the delivery of manufacturing test applications to our
production environment, and currently support a portfolio of about
50 such applications, most of which were custom developed by our
team, and many of which are used at other manufacturing locations

Provision.The base pay range for this position is Min $82,900 - Max
$145,100. The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's
primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide
array of factors, including but not limited to skill set,
experience, certifications, and location.
