Medsurg/Tele - Manager: Kara Evans Ph#

ACLS, BLS
1 to 4 for tele and 1 to 5 for medsurg
Meditech
No - house supervisor will fill in as charge role as needed
yes - one nurse aide shared between ICU and medsurg/tele
3 shifts in a month - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday considered
weekend
No requirement but travelers should be expected to work holidays as
needed
Navy
GE, they have a tele tech in ICU, but they also have a tech that
works in medsurg and will print strips, they have a secretary as
well that can function as a monitor tech as needed
All medsurg/tele nurses are required to read tele strips
No, but they may have to do IV push meds (like cardizem), if the
patient does not convert from there they will be transferred to
ICU
bipap possibly if patient is independent and uses it at home
Hospitalist in house 24/7

No, hours are 6am-5:30pm, Omnicell for after hours, pharmacist will
also mix meds ahead of time if needed, they can also provide
support over phone at night if needed
12 hr shifts, 7a-7p, 7p-7a, self sheduling to some degree, may have
to adjust schedule to fill needs of unit
Occassionaly may have to go to ICU to take care of medsurg status
patients
Depends on experience, usually 2-3 shifts
Tele patients - heart problems, CP, neuro tele, altered, TIA's,
medsurg patients - post op ortho, post op hyster, general
medsurg
Must have 2 yr experience minimum, previous travel experience is
NOT required
Must be a team player, have really good time management and a
positive attitude
