JOB TITLE: Manager of TAY Navigation Services REPORTS TO: Director of Youth Services STATUS: Exempt/Full-Time COMPENSATION: $82,095/year, including paid medical insurance as well as paid time off (vacation, health, & holidays) SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, evenings & weekends will be required GENERAL SUMMARY: The Youth Services at the SF LGBT Center include structured group programming, crisis intervention, navigation & referral services, leadership development, a dedicated drop-in youth space, and on-site individual and group mental health services (therapy/counseling/crisis management). Low-barrier services are designed to reach disconnected lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQQ) youth ages 16-24. The program is rooted in community building, culturally responsive, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction models. A high percentage of program participants have experienced physical and sexual abuse, homelessness, engagement with criminal justice and foster care systems, substance use/abuse, and mental health challenges. Role Overview: The TAY Navigation Services manager is responsible for supervising and implementing Navigation & Referral Services, including Coordinated Entry and Problem Solving. Overall responsibilities include program and curriculum development, program evaluation, training, supervision, management and evaluation of program staff, managing collaborative relationships with outside service providers and partners; and providing limited direct services. This position supervises 3 employees. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Team Management: Model and cultivate a strong and healthy workplace culture with a whole-person approach to management and supervision.

  • Manage, train, and provide ongoing support, supervision, and evaluation of the Center's Navigation team.
  • Support staff members with the development of annual individual plans and ensure staff are on track with identified goals and outcomes.
  • In partnership with the Director of Youth Services, ensure strong staff mentorship and cultivate a culture of learning, providing internal training to staff and linking staff to external training and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide direct supervision that ensures each staff member has ongoing support for direct service provision (including work with vulnerable clients) and community engagement.
  • Incorporate team leadership values in team functions and management. Program Development & Implementation: Overall responsibility for co-developing all aspects of long & short-term program plans, strategies, program evaluation, and program budget.
    • Lead program team in developing, tracking and assessing annual program plans.
    • Ensure alignment of programming with grant deliverables and program priorities.
    • Ensure data collection and program evaluation that measure program impact and support reporting requirements for grants and contracts, ensuring all program requirements are met.
    • Maintain relationships with funders, collaborative partners, professional networks, and other community groups supporting collaborative programs and activities, referrals, and initiatives. Fiscal Management & Fundraising: Responsible for co-developing annual program budget and grant/contract budgets.
      • Develop an annual program budget that aligns program needs with funding sources including restrictions and/or funding limitations.
      • Maintain relationships with public funders, including tracking and reporting of program performance metrics, and compliance with reporting.
      • Track and monitor program and grant budgets, revise budgets as necessary to meet program deliverables. Other Related Duties:
        • Coordinate youth program activities with other agency departments including resource development, grant writing, communications, data management, volunteer program, and other program teams.
        • Participate in long-term program planning for the Youth Services Department which informs the long-term strategic goals of the SF LGBT Center.
        • Manage relationships with program stakeholders, including program participants, collaborative partners, and other service providers. Assist in engagement with representatives of city departments, funders, and other key stakeholders.
        • Other related duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
          • Understanding of the needs of vulnerable LGBT communities, strategies to meet their needs, and ability to work with a broad range of constituents, program participants, and stakeholders representing the full diversity of the LGBTQ and allied communities.
          • Prior management/supervision experience required.
          • Commitment to the mission of the SF LGBT Center.
          • Strong commitment to racial, social, and economic justice, as evidenced by past work.
          • Prefer experience in youth development, trauma-informed services, mental health services, program design, staff supervision, and/or program evaluation.
          • Strong interpersonal skills: excellent verbal and written communication, conflict resolution, de-escalation, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
          • Ability to work both independently, collaboratively, and within a team-oriented organizational structure.
          • Innovative and entrepreneurial approach, including solution-oriented approaches to complex issues. Commitment to alternative organizational structures and leadership models that share power and decision-making with team members effectively.
          • Demonstrated ability to manage teams/ supervise staff with a wide range of work styles and a racial equity lens.
          • Ability to work in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment.
          • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook). Experience with project management tools.
          • Fluency in English is required. Bilingual or ASL skills are highly desired.
          • Must complete criminal background screening and TB test. WORKING CONDITIONS:
            • This position is primarily office-based at the Center's 1800 Market Street location with an ability to negotiate a schedule of remote work up to a maximum of 40% time.
            • Essential physical requirements: Must be able to operate a computer and other common office machinery such as a copier/fax/printer up to eight hours/day daily. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of several hours daily. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Must be able to work in a shared office space with 3 or more employees in the same office with moderate levels of noise. Employees in this position must be able to perform these essential functions satisfactorily, and, if requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job.
              • Hours are primarily Monday - Friday with occasional need for evening or weekend work. Work schedules are negotiable within a standard 8:00 am - 7:00 pm window.
              • Local travel may be required for meetings or offsite events. Out-of-town travel is infrequent and negotiable. No car is required.
